Traveling

Through the endless desert landscape,

and gliding across waves of paved road,

they drive on.

Abandoned by communities,

and searching for moments never to be forgotten,

they drive miles in the hope of seeing the sunset.

Discovering themselves,

honest truths, even with those closest to their hearts;

the breath of fresh air that comes with breaks from reality and work;

adaptation to a new and different lifestyle;

the feeling of understanding another’s reality;

and gaining the long desired respect and equality with peers.

While the warm rays of the sun engulf their skin,

moments of longing emerge,

and the realization of the importance of friends and family dwells in their minds.   

After hours of weary travel,

mixed with booming laughter and breathtaking beauty,

a glimmer of peace emerges across the horizon.

The end of one adventure,

but the contentment with the beginning of another,

brings the extended day to a close.
